Celebrating the first year of busuu for organisations

London – May 25, 2017- One year ago, we launched our innovative new language learning solution for businesses and academic institutions. The offering includes Premium memberships for an organisation’s employees or students, the management platform busuu PRO and bespoke language courses. At the end of our first year, we want to reflect on how we became a leading language solution not only for consumers, but also for companies and universities.

According to a British Chamber of Commerce survey, 62% of non-exporting companies looking for international opportunities regarded poor language skills as a barrier to finding them.

We help organisations to provide high quality, effective language learning to their employees and students. Our expert-designed courses allow companies to improve their language capabilities, foster communication, access new markets and opportunities. For academic institutions, busuu provides students with new career opportunities and gives them a great sense of achievement.

How does busuu help organisations?

busuu’s language learning package for organisations includes unlimited access to busuu’s award winning app for individuals in the organisation, the management platform busuu PRO and tailored courses on request. Premium features include access to 12 languages, advanced grammar, vocabulary trainer, offline mode, official language certificates and conversations with native speakers. With the dashboard busuu PRO, organisations can track success and monitor that language learning objectives are met.

A study conducted by City University New York in 2016 shows that learning with busuu for 22 hours is equivalent to studying a full college semester of language learning. This means that your employees or students can improve their language skills in a short amount of time.

A lot achieved, more to come…

Over the past year, we have formed a significant number of partnerships with leading global companies including Uber, Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, TransferWise, Deliveroo and Runtastic. With our strategic partner McGraw-Hill Education – one of the world’s largest and most respected education companies – we have implemented busuu in over 100 universities and schools around the world.

Here is an example of the tailored course that busuu created for Uber:

“We are delighted that Uber has chosen busuu to provide mobile English lessons for drivers using their app. busuu delivers innovative and effective language training on mobile apps which are already used by more than 65m users around the world. This partnership marks an important milestone for busuu as we are now also offering our product to corporate and academic clients looking for language learning solutions that work.” Bernhard Niesner, CEO & Co-founder, busuu

“Many drivers who use the Uber app don’t have English as their first language but find that their English rapidly improves when they talk to passengers. By teaming up with an innovative app like busuu we can help drivers feel more comfortable when interacting in a second language with riders.” Tom Elvidge, General Manager, Uber London

busuu’s aim is to make language training accessible to all employees across the organisational levels. We want to increase cross-border communication and collaboration within companies and unlock career opportunities for students.

“The first year with busuu PRO has been an incredible journey. We have initiated several partnerships around the world with organisations who believe language learning is a professional development opportunity at every level. I look forward to new partnerships and helping companies succeed in an ever more connected world”. Ozge Ozcer, Sales Director, busuu
