Home » Indonesian: new language on busuu
Hai! Apa kabar? Anda berbicara bahasa Indonesia?
We have great news for all you Indonesian speakers out there! busuu’s iOS and Android apps are now available in 13 interface languages, including Bahasa Indonesia.
Why did we add Indonesian as an interface language, you may wonder? Excellent question!
Bahasa Indonesia is the official language of the Republic of Indonesia. More than 40 million people speak Indonesian as their mother tongue and about another 160 million speak it as a second native language, most of them learning it in early childhood as soon as they start school. Bahasa Indonesia unites the people of Indonesia, a country comprised of more than 300 ethnic groups whose native language may be one of the over 700 local languages or regional dialects. After Mandarin, English, Hindi, Spanish and Arabic, Bahasa Indonesia is the sixth most widely spoken language in the world.
So with approximately 200 million speakers of Indonesian, we figured offering busuu in Indonesian would be very useful to a whole lot of people.
With this in mind, we took on the mission of translating busuu into Indonesian. We started with the vast amounts of content we have in all our language courses (tens of thousands of words and sentences!), translating all the vocabulary you can learn on busuu as well as grammar explanations and all those awesome little hints and tips that help you really understand the language you’re learning.
We then went on to translate our mobile interfaces so you’ll be able to navigate the course you’re in on your smartphone. And here we are, just a few months later, able to offer you Bahasa Indonesia as an interface language.
Do you speak Indonesian? Then go to your app, change the interface language to Indonesian and check it out! We’d love to hear what you think.
Sampai bertemu! Semoga hari Anda baik!
