We’re proud to announce that Uber and busuu have teamed up to bring a new experience to Uber’s partner drivers in London; a free mobile English course that is already helping drivers to improve their language skills, and enhancing your journey with Uber.
Tom Elvidge, General Manager for Uber London said:
“Some drivers who use the Uber app don’t speak English as a first language, but find that their English rapidly improves when they talk to passengers. By teaming up with an innovative app like busuu we can help drivers feel more comfortable when interacting in a second language with riders”.
This new course has been developed to help build and improve communication and interaction between drivers and their riders. Exercises target key skills including speaking, listening, reading and writing, and topics are relevant to a driver’s everyday activities. The course helps them feel more confident in specific situations like discussing the route or locating the rider.
Uber Partner Driver, Krzysztof Walczuk, was one of the first to try the new busuu course and has shared his experience:
“The app is great! It’s good fun and I really like it. It has helped me to improve my English and how I communicate with riders. I use it between trips when it’s quiet, or at home when I have some time to myself. What’s great is that you don’t need anything, you just go to the app and it’s all there for you. You can fit it around your own schedule and learn when you want to.”
This is great feedback for Uber and for busuu; at busuu we are committed to revolutionising the language learning process, and allowing everyone in the world to learn a new language with ease.
Bernhard Niesner, CEO & Co-founder from busuu:
“We are delighted that Uber has chosen busuu to provide mobile English lessons for drivers using their app. busuu delivers innovative and effective language training on mobile apps which are already used by more than 65m users around the world. This partnership marks an important milestone for busuu as we are now also offering our product to corporate and academic clients looking for language learning solutions that work.”
