Another year, another busuu beach. Last week we went on our annual team trip to… the Greek island of Crete – woohoo!
After a 3.5 hour flight, our team of over 50, along with our mascot (the magical blow up unicorn) arrived in Chania. Once we got there we were greeted by our travel agent who had organised the shuttle to the hotel for us. After check-in we spent the afternoon on the gorgeous beach right behind our hotel. The sea was still 23ºC so we all went for a dip in the crystal clear Mediterranean waters!
On Thursday evening we had our quarterly strategy session where the leadership team updated everyone on the last quarter’s achievements and provided an insight into the planning for the next quarter. These sessions are a great way to get an overview of what we can collectively achieve in just 3 months. Go team busuu!
That evening we all enjoyed an amazing Greek buffet with lots of tzatziki and some more local Greek delights. There was also an endless supply of Greek wine. All our German team members were singing “Griechischer Wein” (“Greek wine”), which, in hindsight, EVERYONE should have learnt before the trip! The meal was accompanied by lots of traditional Greek dancing, after which, some of the Android and Web team should certainly consider starring on the hit series ‘Strictly Come Dancing’! You know who you are…
Bright and early on Friday morning, we went out for a surprise activity. After arriving at the Venetian Harbour in Chania, Ioannis, our awesome tour guide took us to our boat for a day cruise.
We sailed for a few hours with several snorkeling stops and watched the mythical Kiri Kiri (a Cretan goat) jumping up steep mountain ledges on a deserted island off mainland Crete. The Kiri Kiri is type of feral goat that only inhabits the Eastern Mediterranean.
Once back on dry land, we enjoyed a lovely Greek lunch at one of the local tavernas. It was a great day!
The next morning, we packed our bags and headed back to the airport to make our way home. What an amazing trip we had! Thank you busuu for taking us back to the beach this year!
